Coupons 101

I am a mother of 3 kids who eat ALL THE TIME. With the rising food cost and the more my kids grow...the smaller my wallet becomes. I have been working my coupons for about 2 years now, and yard sales (whole different ball game), I have been able to save hundreds of dollars. I am going to try and make this sound as simple as possible, because coupons really are easy. The process takes time to get used to, but within 6 months of you really sticking to it, you will be AMAZED at what deals you can find!! Seriously I haven't had to out of pocket money for toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, in over a year. I have stocked up when it was on sale, and now I don't have to get those unless they FREE or under a $1.00. I plan on trying to keep up on this blog from week to week so you can see the deals. I live in Arizona but maybe by most of you watching what I do, you will start catching your own good deals!! Here we go!! :)

Step 1:
Start Collecting Coupons: Subscribe to a Newspaper...they are almost ALWAYS in the Sunday paper. ( I get my paper for a $1.00 a week), but if you can't get a paper there are always PRINTABLE coupons!! (will explain more in a few)

Step 2:
Organize your coupons...here is my coupon book that sits in my purse (it's actually a little messy but oh well):

I found this at TARGET for about $2.00. Totally worth it to stay organized. Some people I know put it in a baseball card case (Folder) and organize that way...or I am sure you can come up with something creative!!
Step 3: Look at your adds!! Here is a example of my frys food paper this week:

I then look through my coupons to see what I have that is on sale...for instance I know the toothbrush's are on sale again this week...so I go to ebay, find the same coupon I have, make sure to read all the find print and make sure the oz all match up, then I buy mass numbers...(normally around 20 coupons). So most on ebay I pay is about 2.00 with shipping. Once they come I go to the store before the sale ends and 'buy' them!! Some stores will only let you do 3 a transaction...(THANK GOODNESS FOR SELF CHECK OUT LANES!!). I have stood there before did 3, paid my 5 cent tax, then did 3 more....then 3 more.....until I burned through all 20 or however many coupons I had.

STEP 4: Don't feel like you need to go buy TONS of coupons, try with just a few to get the hang of it. Once you start doing just a few, your going to start thinking of what coupons you have and what you need to buy. Just because there is a coupon for it, doesn't mean you have to get it. Most of the coupons you get from week to week, you will get a few times a year. The big key is to buy things WHEN they are on sale.

Here is the secret though...Frys here will make all my coupons under a $1.00....a $1.00!! So you can see in this photo that my 40 cent tooth brush coupons will be doubled, tripled, or quadrupled up to a $1.00....then that makes them FREE!!

Walmart is REALLY good about matching competitors adds. For example the Milk add!! I Never pay more than two dollars a gallon anymore. I buy a bunch when they are on sale, and then freeze them. (I can give you tips on how to do this). There are some adds they won't match. Example: Buy 5 pizzas get 3 dollars off....they only match price for price!! :)

Printable Coupon Info:

Sometimes I follow this lady:

http://thekrazycouponlady.com/
or her facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/TheKrazyCouponLady

And she sometimes puts up the links to were you can print it out, so you don't have to hunt for them online everywhere!! She sometimes tells you how to do it...

Here is another site where you can print coupons: www.coupons.com

There are even sites you can 'load' coupons on your vip card or store card!! And even with those loaded coupons on your card, a manufactures coupon, and a store coupon, you can really save!!!!

The best places to save on cleaning supplies, make-up, hair care, and extra are like walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid. Places like that!! Because walmart doesn't do the 'buy 1 get 1' sales. And you can use 2 coupons in that!! A coupon for the buy 1, and a coupon for the get 1...(make sense? if not keep following me every week and they will get easier!!)

There are many sites out there that you can print from!! Remember DON'T OVER LOAD YOURSELF!! It really takes time to get used to!! If you have questions feel free to ask me...I can help!! GOOD LUCK!!
